Ahmed Rakwi

Ahmed Rakwi is a seasoned executive and technology leader with extensive experience in the ISP and telecommunications industry. As the co-founder of GoranNet, the first XDSL service provider in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Ahmed played a key role in scaling the company and expanding its internet services, leading to its successful acquisition.
Currently serving as CEO of Iraq IXP, Ahmed has led the company through a period of rapid growth, improving infrastructure, forging strategic partnerships, and driving operational efficiency. His leadership and strategic direction have strengthened Iraq IXP’s position as a critical player in the country’s internet landscape.
Previously, as the CEO of SevenNet, Ahmed expanded its telecom network, significantly increasing the user base and profitability. His strong leadership and operational insights have been instrumental in the company’s success.
In addition to his corporate roles, Ahmed has contributed to education as a Board Member at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), advising on the development of the IT curriculum to align with industry demands and enhance graduate employability.
Ahmed holds an MBA from AUIS and a BSc in Animal Production from the University of Sulaymaniah. He is fluent in English, Arabic, and Kurdish, and is recognized for his strategic vision and deep understanding of the telecommunications sector.
